NEWS FLASH

Skopje Airport saw its passenger numbers continue to grow in August by handling 237.195 travellers. The figure represents an increase of 8.1% on the same month in 2017. The growth came despite the boom in traffic Skopje saw in August of last year as a result of the UEFA Super Cup Final, which was hosted in the Macedonian capital. During the January - August period, Skopje Airport welcomed 1.452.362 passengers through its doors, up 18.7%. So far, the airport has added over 211.000 travellers on last year.

Ok, so the growth is starting to decline, which is quite normal.
SKP must find new alternative routes next year, otherwise the growth will be below 5%.

This is key in the text

"The growth came despite the boom in traffic Skopje saw in August of last year as a result of the UEFA Super Cup Final, which was hosted in the Macedonian capital."

      That's why growth 'slowed'

How many passengers did PRN handle so far? SKP seems to be widening the gap with PRN and LJU.

PRN will definitely be ahead of SKP starting this winter, when Wizz begin to expand.
Sadly though, INI seems to be lagging. I just saw that Wizz is cancelling INI-MMX after 7th January 2019 :(
With SKP-CPH and SOF-CPH and BEG-MMX, I think there are currently way many too seats.

Interesting about INI-MMX. Seems like Wizz Air is failing on all fronts in INI... and they seem to be doing quite bad in SOF.

I guess their war in the West is producing its first casualties.

Wizz Air also announced the closure of their Poznan base. Seems like there is a lot of reshuffling going on. I am sure ex-YU operations will be affected as well.

switch to OHD-MMX instead? 10th of the Jan is the date where they should launch two routes out of OHD (if they win the tender)

PRN had over 37,500 passengers more than SKP in August. If that's "widening the gap" then long it may continue.

The biggest gap will be in November when SKP loses BCN & VXO.

      Better this way:

      PRN - 1,472,849
      SKP - 1,452,362
      LJU - 1,232,529

      ;)

Ljubljana is narrowing the gap and might surpass Skopie next year.
U2 will maintain London 10 weekly next summer.

This is a brilliant result considering the fact that last August was the Super Cup with so many widebodies in 2 days.
Hope this time the tender proves successful.
Is someone increasing frequences to SKP this winter?
